Here are some common questions we get asked by customers whilst servicing their boilers;
Q-Why have you taken the cover off? The last guy didn’t remove it.
A-To carry out any boiler service the cover must be removed, you may have previously had an FGA (flue gas analysis) style service which can be carried out with the cover on. These styles of service don’t meet the minimum legal obligations of a gas engineer when working on an appliance and should not be classed as a service.
Q-Why do you need to see the gas meter? The last guy didn’t need to see it.
A-During a boiler service, our gas engineer will need to see the meter to carry out visual inspection and use the meter to confirm the safe operation of the appliance.
Q-Is there a problem? The last guy wasn’t here that long.
A-A service carried out in just a few minutes rings alarm bells to any professional gas engineer. Our gas safety check will last at least 30 minutes, with a full strip down service taking over an hour, depending on the boiler make and the location.
Q-My boiler didn’t need a seal or gasket on its last service.
A-Some boilers don’t require a new combustion chamber gasket unless it shows signs of damage, other manufacturers specify a replacement must be fitted each time its opened. If you haven’t charged for a gasket then it may not have been replaced.
Q-Would you like a tea or coffee? The last guy was gone before the kettle boiled.
A-Yes absolutely, coffee white with one sugar.
